Pastoral Councils and Commissions

 

The Pastoral Council

In accordance with Church law as defined by canon 536 “a pastoral council is to be established in each parish: the pastor presides over it and through it the Christian faithful along with those who share in the pastoral care of the parish in virtue of their office give their help in fostering pastoral activity”.

In this Spirit of fostering pastoral activity and directing the pastoral vision of St. Ferdinand, its council is made up of six elected “at large” members who represent a broad demographic of the parish and accept a term of three years of service along with representatives from six commissions.

The at large members are elected from the following age groups:

  • 18 to 25 years,
  • 26 to 35 years,
  • 36 to 45 years,
  • 46 to 55 years,
  • 56 to 65 years, and 66 years and over
