Faith Formation Commission

This commission exists to ensure that every member of our parish has the opportunity to develop a living, conscious, and active Catholic faith. Its mission is to assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of various catechetical activities in our parish.
Adult Faith Formation Committee
This committee serves to develop a plan for adult formation that offers a variety of opportunities for faith development for adult members of our parish.
Opportunities to serve beyond the Adult Faith Formation Committee:
- Bible Study Facilitator/Book Reading Group Facilitator
- Parish Mission Planner
- Event Planner/Coordinator
Youth Faith Formation Committee
This committee evaluates and improves the faith formation program for our youth – the Released Time program, the high school program,
Opportunities to serve beyond the Youth Faith Formation Committee:
- Catechists
- High School – Wednesday evenings August – May
- Intermediate and Junior High – Tuesday or Wednesdays
- Elementary – Sunday or Wednesday mornings
- Support
- Phone Call Coordinator - Calls families to check on absent teens
- Prayer Sponsors – Each class has someone to pray for them each week.
- Aide – Help with bulletin boards, copying, etc.
- Prayer Buddy for Kindergarten—once a month, October— May
- Chapel Adoration— Wednesday evenings 7:30 — 8:30
Early Childhood Committee
This committee ensures that faith formation is available to even the youngest members of our parish family through the supervision of early childhood program which could include parent letters and a Preschool Sunday School program.
Opportunities to serve beyond the Early Childhood Committee:
- Sunday School Coordinator— oversees the Sunday morning program
- Catechist — Sundays
- Music Leader— facilitates 15 minutes of music each week with the children
- Early Childhood letters — each volunteer sees to the mailing of a specific parent letter and gift at the appropriate time for each child
- Sacramental Prep
- Baptism
- Catechist – facilitates pre-Baptism sessions
- Hospitality – coordinates refreshments for pre-Baptism sessions
- First Reconciliation
- Catechist – leads children’s sessions on Wednesdays and/or sessions outside of released time
- First Communion
- Catechist – leads children’s sessions on Wednesdays and/or sessions outside of released time
- Prayer Sponsor – prays for an individual in First Communion prep
- Family Gathering Catechist – assists with the two First Communion Family Gatherings which are held on weekends
- Confirmation
- Catechist – leads teen sessions on Sunday mornings
- Hospitality – coordinates refreshments for Confirmation sessions
- Witness Presenter – prepares and presents a witness talk on a given topic for a Confirmation session.
- Hosts for home visits
- Baptism
- Marriage Prep
- Sponsor Couple – meets with an engaged couple to explore joys and challenges of marriage
- Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
- Inquiry team – meets with individuals interested in learning more about the Catholic faith
- Parish Sponsor – walks with a catechumen or candidate on their journey to the sacrament
- Catechist – facilitates sessions for those interested in becoming Catholic
- Mystagogy team – assists new members of the Catholic Church in discovering how to live their new faith
- Hospitality team – coordinates refreshments for the RCIA gatherings
Vacation Bible School Committee
- Center Leader – story, Crafts, Music, Snacks, Games, or Babysitting Each Center leader plans and coordinates activities for their center
- Group Guide – walk-a-long for a group of 10 children
- Aide – can help in any center or group
- Publicity – gets the word out there
- Registration – coordinate registration and maintain database
- Decoration – coordinates the set up and environment for VBS
