The Pastoral Council

In accordance with Church law as defined by canon 536 “a pastoral council is to be established in each parish: the pastor presides over it and through it the Christian faithful along with those who share in the pastoral care of the parish in virtue of their office give their help in fostering pastoral activity”.

In this Spirit of fostering pastoral activity and directing the pastoral vision of St. Ferdinand, its council is made up of six elected “at large” members who represent a broad demographic of the parish and accept a term of three years of service along with representatives from six commissions.

The at large members are elected from the following age groups:

  • 18 to 25 years,
  • 26 to 35 years,
  • 36 to 45 years,
  • 46 to 55 years,
  • 56 to 65 years, and 66 years and over

The Pastoral Council of Christ the King Parish consists of elected parish members from individual age categories, as well as individual parish commission chairpersons. The commission chair persons are elected by each commission group to serve as a chairperson of service to their commission and to a leadership position on the parish council.

Purpose:  To be the parishioners’ voice for leadership in regards to  the parish services provided; to provide leadership in ad- dressing the personal parish needs in regards to facilities, developments, all of the needs of the individual parish ministry commissions, and for the spiritual and faith needs of our parish membership.

Goals:  The parish council meets monthly to discuss, evaluate,  review activities and to provide needed direction to all  parish ministries. As an oversight governing council, the parish council works to be the voice of leadership within Christ the King Parish.
