The Faith Formation Commission


This Commission oversees a variety of faith formation ministries that are focused on ensuring that every member of our parish has opportunities to develop a positive and a conscious engagement with their faith, their faith practices and within Christ the King Parish. This appointed Commission Chair sits on the Pastoral Council and is responsible for reporting to the Council.

 

Purpose:  This commission serves as a resource in advising and co- ordinating the educational and youth ministry programs within the parish including Pre-School, Grade School, High  School and Adult religious formation.

 

Goals:  Bring awareness to the parish community of the im- portance of personal conversion, evangelization and  growth in the Catholic faith. 

 

Activities:  Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA), High School  Religion, Grade School Released Time, Catechesis of the  Good Shepherd, Maria Goretti Award Nominations, Feed  the  Teens, Youth Stations of the Cross, Vacation Bible  School, Christmas pageants, Parish Mission, fundraisers  for religious ed and  youth ministry

 

 

Opportunities for parishioner engagement beyond the Commission:

Catechist - High School Religion and Grade School Released Time

Chapel Adoration - High School Religion

Prayer Sponsors - All grades

Adult Faith Formation Activities -  Bible study, Missions, Speakers, Retreats

Youth Faith Formation Activities -  Religious Ed programs, Faith-based recreational activities, retreats, missions, TEC programs, Source & Summit, etc.

Early Childhood Faith Formation Activities -  Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Vacation Bible School, Sunday Youth pamphlets, etc.

Sacramental Activities -  Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation, Wedding, Funeral

Marriage Preparation -  This ministry provides sponsor couples who will assist the parish priest in preparing engaged couples looking to enter into marriage, with information and facts that will allow them to explore the joys and the challenges of marriage.
